Hello! I’m Tettei Shahday-Annang, and I’m thrilled to be transitioning from an IT Technician to a Cybersecurity Professional. My mission? To safeguard digital spaces and navigate the ever-evolving landscape of cyber threats. Let me share a bit about my journey and aspirations.

My Journey into Technology

My fascination with technology ignited years ago. I was driven by a fervor for crafting digital solutions and ensuring seamless data flow across networks. Even during my tenure as a cyber cafe administrator in 2010, I demonstrated resourcefulness by configuring my phone to send back the number of the thief who stole it—leading to its safe return by day’s end.

Bridging IT and Web Development

In addition to my IT background, I’ve immersed myself in part-time web development work. Here’s where I design and build responsive websites, enhance user experiences, and leverage the latest web technologies to create engaging digital platforms. This experience complements my cybersecurity aspirations, providing me with a holistic understanding of digital systems and their vulnerabilities.

Beyond the Typical IT Technician Role

While my job titles often read “IT technician,” my responsibilities extend beyond the ordinary. I’ve delved into IT support, network administration, and even aspects of system administration. My days involve troubleshooting computer issues, setting up and maintaining network infrastructure, and configuring systems for optimal performance.

As I transition into cybersecurity, I bring practical experience and a deep-rooted passion for learning and research. My proactive approach to self-improvement, coupled with innate curiosity, fuels my drive to stay abreast of emerging threats and cutting-edge technologies.

Commonwealth Bank Cybersecurity Job Simulation Participant

As a participant in the Commonwealth Bank Cybersecurity Job Simulation, I had the opportunity to work closely with the bank’s cybersecurity team. Together, we protected the bank’s customers, employees, and reputation while enhancing the resilience of its financial system. This hands-on experience allowed me to build real-world skills and gain insights into the dynamic field of cybersecurity. Through Forage, I immersed myself in scenarios, tackled challenges, and honed my abilities—all while contributing to a safer digital environment.

Introduction to Cybersecurity Bootcamp (Conducted by Cyber Talents)

I also completed the Introduction to Cybersecurity Bootcamp (cohort 6), a transformative program brought to you by Cyber Talents. During this intensive training, I delved into essential cybersecurity concepts, explored threats and vulnerabilities, and gained practical knowledge in areas such as OS security, web application security, data encryption techniques, and network security fundamentals. The bootcamp provided a solid foundation for my journey as a cybersecurity professional. It’s not just about learning; it’s about applying that knowledge to real-world scenarios.
